Visit the BEST (BEACON Enterprise Support Team) Shared Services Center Web Page Welcome to a new day in North Carolina State Government! Through BEACON state employees now have unprecedented access to their human resources, benefits and payroll information on file with the State. To familiarize themselves with the new system, employees are encouraged to take the BEACON Overview course, the two ESS courses -- one course provides an ESS overview and the other focuses on time entry -- and the MSS course, which provides information on how managers can approve employee time and vacation requests. For BEACON assistance, BEST (BEACON Enterprise Support Team) Shared Services Center agents are available from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday to answer BEACON-related human resources, payroll and benefits questions. With the successful implementation of the BEACON HR/Payroll Project, the project team’s focus turns to stabilizing the human resources/payroll system. Additionally, the BEACON team continues to plan for future projects, such as: implementing a new financials and budgeting system, implementing data migration, implementing learning solutions/training, implementing e-recruitment, providing support for ongoing technical projects and providing transition support for universities migrating off central payroll. When completed, the BEACON system will provide centralized, coordinated business operations that can improve efficiency and provide timely, accurate information for decision-makers and the public. |
